You’ll soon be able to find Dat’z Italian, one of Fire Within’s amazing clients at the White Star Market, a modern food hall concept opening at Square 46 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. So, if you’re a fan of their mobile, wood-fired pizza operation, there will be no need to chase them around town any longer.
White Star Market recently announced that Dat’z owners, Joe and Shelly Forte of Walker are bringing their concept to the market in a much-anticipated, mixed-use development at 4646 Government Street in Mid City. The sustainable location will include residences, restaurants, retailers and work spaces.
In a White Star Market news release, Joe Forte had this to say, “Our goal was to bring authentic Italian Neapolitan-style pizza to the region. The Dat’z concept blends our Italian and south Louisiana heritage into our product.”
Fans of Dat’z have certainly experienced Forte’s culinary direction with everything from a traditional pepperoni pie to their famous Dat’z a N’awlins Muffuletta Pizza coming out of our wood-fired ovens. Making appearances at festivals in Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as occasional Wednesday stops at Tin Roof Brewing, their mobile operation has gained a loyal following over the last several years.
White Star Market is set to open in 2017, during the late spring or early summer. Whether you live in the area or plan to visit, stop by for delicious eats from our friends at Dat’z Italian. On the menu, you’ll find even more unique pizza offerings like their Louisiana Shrimp Boil Pizza and Red Beans and Andouille Pizza. Word has it that lasagna, pastas and a selection of gourmet Gelato will also be available.
At the food hall, Dat’z will be in good company with 10 other food vendors and a full-service bar. They will share the space with Robear Ln. from Chef Jesse Romero, a second location of Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar, Gov’t Taco from Jay Ducote, Fete au Fete from New Orleans chef Micah Martello, Reve Coffee Roasters, Asian restaurant Chow Yum Phat, and Another Silver Spoon from Chef Michael Mangham.
Everyone here at Fire Within wishes our friends at Dat’z Italian all the best for this exciting endeavor!
